Just In: Lionel Messi Expected To Attend Barcelona’S 125Th Anniversary Celebrations

In a huge development, journalist Miguel Rico reports that former Barcelona captain and icon Lionel Messi will attend the club’s 125th anniversary celebrations later this month.

The grand Gala for Barcelona’s 125th Anniversary will be held at the Liceu Theatre on 29 November.

The Catalan giants have been working on the event for months as plans are underway for a grand celebration, with the Blaugrana keen on having prominent figures from the club’s past and present at the ceremony.

As such, an invite to Messi was always set to be extended but there were some doubts about the Argentina captain’s attendance as his relationship with Barça president Joan Laporta has become strained in recent years.

As such, there was no concrete news about his attendance at the Gala. However, the eight-time Ballon d’Or has always stated that Barcelona is his home and has never shied away from expressing his love for the Catalan giants.

And, as per the report, Messi puts the club before any personal situation, and he has assured that, for Barça, he will do whatever is necessary. In other words, the Inter Miami superstar will stand alongside his club at the most important celebration of the season.

Some details of the celebration are already known, such as the recently presented and striking poster that Miquel Barceló has painted and donated free of charge.

The 125th Anniversary anthem will be heard for the first time on the grand evening at the Liceu, and personal or remote participation from players and legends is expected.

A few weeks ago, it was revealed that David Carabén, the events commissioner, had met with Frank Rijkaard, Louis Van Gaal, Pep Guardiola and other distinguished figures whose images can already be seen in a documentary series.

Now, it appears to be confirmed that Messi, too, will be attending the grand celebration as Barcelona celebrate their 125th anniversary.
